Jesús (Jess) Franco (1930-2013)
It’s always sad to see a great Director pass away, especially one that has touched my life so deeply. I remember falling in love with his work the first time I saw Vampyros Lesbos. From the quirky soundtrack to the naked vampire sluts, I was hooked and found myself seeking out any and all of Franco’s abundant library of work. The Church will be tracking down and watching these films for a good number of years to come, as we feel we’ve barely scratched the surface.
Included here is a short and nowhere near comprehensive list of some of Franco’s more notable films – in our opinion, at least.
Gritos En La Noche (The Awful Dr. Orlof) (1962)
Sadist Erotica (Two Undercover Angels) (1969)
Venus in Furs (1969)
Vampyros Lesbos (1971)
She Killed in Ecstasy (1971)
Les Démons (1973)
Women Behind Bars (1975)
Jack the Ripper (1976)
Ilsa, the Wicked Warden (1977)
Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun (1977)
Devil Hunter (1980)
Diamonds of Kilimandjaro (1983)
A fond farewell to you, Mr. Franco. We sincerely hope that you are somewhere out there in the ether armed with your faithful zoom lens and ladies by your side.
We’ll never forget you.
Love, Razor88 and Nom DePlume

Duane co-founded The Church of Splatter-Day Saints in 2005. When not immersed in film he's enjoying good whiskey, smoking meat in the backyard or thinking about sluts. He makes a damn fine habanero fire sauce.
